REACH & RoHS Directives



Under the legislation termed REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament that was published on 1 December 2006, coming into force on 1 June 2007. REACH is a single regulatory system for chemicals management in the European Union.

Under Annex XIV of the REACH Directive, the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) publishes a candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC’s) which was last updated on 12 January 2017 and references 173 substances to date.


Flexcables Ltd Statement

Flexcables Ltd is continually monitoring and assessing chemicals / substances which are critical to their processes and formulations.

In regards to the EU’s REACH Directive and the ECHA candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC’s) as further amended 12 January 2017, The Pre-Wired Conduit Company Limited hereby confirms that we do not intentionally add any of these SVHC’s to our products and that to the best of our knowledge, none of these substances are present in any of the raw materials used in our products.



The European Parliament in its 2002/95/CE Directive, dated 27 January 2003 (referred to as “RoHS I”), decided to reduce the use of certain hazardous substances in several categories of electrical and electronic products. From 1 July 2006 it was prohibited to sell certain products in Europe containing identified substances such as Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent Chromium, PolyBrominated Biphenyls (PBB) and PolyBrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE).

RoHS II (directive 2011/65/EU) is a revision dated 8 June 2011, and continues to ban substances (as listed above) in electrical and electronic products, that have now been extended to all categories (Annex I) of electronic products, cables and spare parts. The current list (Annex II) of banned substances was reviewed by Commission delegated Directive (EU) 2015/863, adopted 31 December 2016, to include four new substances from 22 July 2019.

Flexcables Ltd continuously monitors chemicals/substances that are critical to its processes and product.

With regards to Flexcables Ltd cable products range complies with the requirements of the RoHS II Directive i.e. the compositions do not contain any of the prohibited substances above the thresholds, as indicated below:

1. Lead (Pb): < 1,000 ppm?

2. Mercury (Hg): < 1,000 ppm?

3. Cadmium (Cd): < 100 ppm?

4. Hexavalent Chromium: (Cr VI) < 1,000 ppm?

5. PolyBrominated Biphenyls (PBB): < 1,000 ppm?

6. PolyBrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): < 1,000 ppm

Nor any of the following substances that will be included from July 2019:

  1. Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): < 1,000 ppm ?
  2. Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): < 1,000 ppm ?
  3. DiButyl phthalate (DBP): < 1,000 ppm

10. DiIsobutyl phthalate (DIBP): < 1,000 ppm?
